New Windshield Washer Fluid Station at Harnois

Seen at Le Magasin / Esso from the Harnois retail chain in Sainte-Adèle: a windshield washer fluid filling station!

Rather than purchasing a 4L plastic bottle, the motorist can fill its tank directly from a pump spout as it would for gasoline.

A quantity of 4 L costs around $4.25 CDN, more affordable than buying a plastic can (app. $ 5.99 per unit) but more expensive than those bought at large surface stores (sold about $2.50 per unit).

This innovation is the work of entrepreneur Pierre Néron and his firm Cristal Innovation. Mr. Néron highlights in his sales pitch the environmental benefits of his approach.

It is after seeing a similar application in Europe that he decided to launch the concept here in 2013.

According to the store locator map on the company’s website, several chains are currently testing his device such as Harnois but also Couche-Tard and Caliprix.

It remains to be seen whether this seemingly very good idea is going to become popular and spread throughout Quebec and elsewhere in North America.

It is surely the price and competitiveness factor that will determine the future of this promising formula.
