Le Dépanneur is a c-store banner operated by Sobeys Québec and aimed at independent retailers. Although it has about a hundred stores and was founded three decades ago, it gets no marketing support: no flyer, no website, no facebook page, no advertising. It’s essentially a supply banner with a brand that is more a convenience for the retailer than an asset on which to build on.

Sobeys offers an “affilliation agreement” with independent owners for the operation of a convenience store under the Le Dépanneur banner of a usual five-year term, possibly with the right to extend the term for a period of five years and also, a right of first refusal during the term of the lease if the lessor receives an offer to purchase concerning the rented premises. The agreement allows retailers access to wholesale prices.
