À plein gaz is a gas stations banner owned and operated by Loblaw in the vicinity of Maxi & Provigo supermarkets (most of the time in the parking lot).
The thinking behind such gas stations is to offer consumers with a synergy of products, promotions and loyalty programs. Alas, Loblaw seems to have had enough of them. Indeed, the company recently announced that it intends to sell its network of 212 service stations across Canada (source: TVA). Like most oil companies (Shell, L’Imperial, Valero and others) that chose to divest their retail network, Loblaw seems to have concluded that the effort put in running these gas stations are not worthwhile are represent a source of major distraction from the real profit centers.
