Fascinating."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Alain Bouchard, founder of Couche-Tard, likes to say, <strong>time is what a convenience store sells first and foremost.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We couldn&#8217;t illustrate this better than through the following timelapse video.<\/p>\n<p>Time is the most precious resource of humanity because rich or poor, we have only a finite and limited quantity. And when you subtract what you are forced to spend for the most part (eating, sleeping, etc.), there is really not much left.<\/p>\n<p>So during an active day, these few hours of high productivity work are quite valuable and for many, there can be no question of losing 15 minutes in a supermarket to save $ 2 on a product.<\/p>\n<p>This is where the depanneur comes in: customers know they can get in and out quickly. And why is that?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Because they are located in convenient and easily accessible spots (such as here, at the corner of a major intersection) or strategically between home and work;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>They offer easy parking and most of the time, right in front of the entrance door;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The walking distance between your car and the store is minimal;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Inside, everything is at your fingertips: no long aisles to walk through;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a wide variety of essentials: coffee, tobacco, snacks, alcohol, candy, ready-to-eat meals, beverages, lottery and more;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Easy to grab, pay and go&#8230; fast!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How fast? To watch it firsthand, we installed a camera in front of a popular Couche-Tard store, in Lachine, and photographed between noon and 2 PM, last Wednesday, at a rate of one photo every 7 seconds, or 1 sec = 3 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>What struck us?<\/p>\n<p>Several customers (if not most) make complete transactions (arrival and departure) in less than 5 minutes;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They clearly want to park near the door, and if there is no room, they make one;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>They park forward or backward, to leave faster;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Most come by car but many also come on foot;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>People at work (as on the video, employees of the municipality), take the opportunity to eat on the run;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And above all, it is non-stop! &#8230; as evidence, notice the entrance door that keeps opening and closing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On this, good viewing!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">TWO HOURS OF A DEPANNEUR&#8217;S OPERATIONS:<\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">CONVENIENCE AT FULL SPEED!
