Since then, its network of <strong>Supercentre<\/strong> store\u00a0has grown steadily, attaining today 53 <strong>Supercentres<\/strong> out of a total of 71 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walmart.ca\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Walmart<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0stores, a ratio that continues to grow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This means an average of 10 new Supercentres per year!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.journaldemontreal.com\/2017\/05\/25\/walmart-troisieme-en-alimentation-au-canada-1\">According to the Journal de Montr\u00e9al<\/a>, since\u00a0<strong>Walmart<\/strong>\u00a0started transforming\u00a0its current stores into\u00a0<strong>Supercentres<\/strong>, the company makes $900 million in additional revenue\u00a0per year\u00a0and now ranks third in Canada in terms of food distribution.<\/p>\n<p>As the <strong>DepQu\u00e9bec Geomap*<\/strong> shows &#8211; for the first time showing a complete view of all stores &#8211; the choice of the new hypermarkets in Quebec have been carefully planned to reach the largest possible pool of consumers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>22 in the Montr\u00e9al region<\/li>\n<li>7 in the Quebec City region<\/li>\n<li>4 in the Outaouais region<\/li>\n<li>2 in Sherbrooke, 1 in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, 2 in the Lac St-Jean, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_101127\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101127\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/en\/geomap-depqc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-101127 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/carte-supercentre.jpg\" alt=\"Supercentres Walmart au Qu\u00e9bec\" width=\"800\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/carte-supercentre.jpg 800w, https:\/\/depquebec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/carte-supercentre-600x334.jpg 600w, https:\/\/depquebec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/carte-supercentre-400x223.jpg 400w, https:\/\/depquebec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/carte-supercentre-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-101127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new <strong>Walmart Supercentres<\/strong> cover the entire territory of Quebec, including remote areas such as Abitibi, Lac-St-Jean, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Beauce.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>Supercentres<\/strong> have an impressive food section including fruits and vegetables, meat counters, deli meats, bakeries, and take-out food. They include both goods normally available in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walmart.ca\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Walmart<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and a full grocery store (fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and bakery). They are recognizable by their two distinct entrances. However once inside, no wall separates the food (20% of the space) from the general merchandise (80%).<\/p>\n<p>This expansion, coupled with the arrival of <a href=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/en\/chain-profiles\/costco\/\"><strong>Costco<\/strong><\/a>, has put great pressure on the three large Quebec food chains (<a href=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/en\/chain-profiles\/loblaw\/\"><strong>Loblaw<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/en\/chain-profiles\/sobeys-quebec\/\"><strong>Sobeys<\/strong><\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/depquebec.com\/en\/banner-profiles\/metro-and-metro-plus\/\"><strong>Metro<\/strong><\/a>), given the slow growth of the population. \u201cTheir profit margins have been shaken.
