\u00c0 plein gaz<\/strong>\u00a0is a gas stations banner owned and operated by Loblaw<\/strong><\/a> in the vicinity of Maxi<\/strong> <\/a>& Provigo<\/strong> <\/a>supermarkets (most of the time in the parking lot).<\/p>\n

The thinking behind\u00a0such gas stations is to offer consumers with a synergy of products, promotions and loyalty programs. Alas, Loblaw<\/strong><\/a> seems to have had enough\u00a0of them. Indeed, the company recently announced that it intends to sell its network of 212 service stations across Canada (source: TVA<\/a>). Like most\u00a0oil companies (Shell<\/a>, L’Imperial<\/a>, Valero<\/strong><\/a> and others) that chose to divest their retail network, Loblaw<\/strong><\/a> seems to have concluded\u00a0that the effort put in running these gas stations are not worthwhile are represent a source of major distraction from the real profit centers.<\/p>\n
