Founded by Provigo<\/strong><\/a> in Quebec in the 1980s, the Proprio<\/strong>\u00a0depanneur banner is now operated by Loblaw<\/a><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n As its name implies, the banner brings together convenience stores operated by independents owners (“proprio” is a contraction of “propri\u00e9taire” which means “property owner”). The banner gives them access to discounts and wholesale prices from the Loblaw<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>warehouses.<\/span>\u00a0In addition, more than 60% of Proprio<\/strong> convenience stores are located in three adjoining regions: Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie, Laval and the Laurentian.<\/span><\/p>\n Affiliation to a Proprio<\/strong> banner is based primarily on a supply agreement that allows access to wholesale prices, rebates and other.<\/span> Marketing support is virtually non-existent (no flyer, website, promotion, advertising or any visible investment in brand equity).<\/span> About one-fifth of Proprio<\/strong>\u00a0convenience stores also sell gasoline, mostly Sonic<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and Esso<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
