Alongside Metro<\/strong><\/a> and Sobeys<\/strong><\/a>, Loblaw<\/strong><\/a> is the third largest food giant in Quebec following the acquisition in 1995 of Provigo<\/a><\/strong>‘s\u00a0<\/strong>250 stores, a Quebec-based chain. Owned by the Toronto-based mega-group George Weston<\/strong>, Loblaw\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>is well known for the excellence of its house brands such as President’s Choice<\/strong>. Loblaw\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>has thus an enviable position on the Quebec market and has recently decided to\u00a0build on its Provigo<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>banner for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n When it comes to convenience stores, Loblaw\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>has the smallest network of the three big chains: it nevertheless operates the Proprio<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>banner, which groups independent owners and also Axep<\/strong><\/a>, located halfway between a convenience store and a small local grocery.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
